Eco Clarity’s FOG Recovery Hub service takes problematic fat, oil and grease (FOG) wastewater collected from commercial kitchen grease traps, and converts it into valuable biofuel. If left untreated, FOG can be extremely destructive, blocking sewer and drainage networks, polluting the environment and increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Eco Clarity have spent over a decade developing a separation technology that can process FOG quickly using only one-fifth of the energy that alternative solutions require.
Using this ground-breaking technology, we can generate additional revenue streams by producing biofuel resources, enabling us to offer very competitive pricing for FOG waste disposal. In addition, our FOG Recovery Hubs do not require the use of any costly chemical additives or fossil fuels, and there are no expensive landfill fees to pay, which is great for businesses and even better for the environment.
How does our FOG Recovery Hub service work?
At Eco Clarity, we are rapidly expanding our network of FOG Recovery Hubs across the UK, making them quick and easy for liquid waste management companies to access. In the UK, it is a legal requirement for commercial kitchens serving hot food to have their grease traps cleaned and emptied by a registered waste carrier. This waste is transported by liquid waste tanker to our FOG Recovery Hubs, where it is separated into resources for biofuels, organic matter for fertiliser and water, which can be treated for reuse or returned to the environment. Using our sophisticated monitoring system, we can analyse in real-time the wastewater content and then generate an invoice, which records the greenhouse gas emission savings.

It is a legal requirement in the UK, for any business serving hot food to fit a grease trap and have it cleaned by a registered waste carrier. Eco Clarity can then dispose of it in a cost-effective and eco-friendly way.

Eco Clarity’s FOG Recovery Hubs are designed to be flexible and can easily be scaled-up to meet increasing demand and available footprint space. The Hubs are extremely energy efficient and produce minimal odours, so they can operate from any wastewater treatment works or private waste processing facility. They are fully automated and maintained by Eco Clarity engineers, and only require site operatives to greet drivers and monitor loads. The Hubs are fitted with a sophisticated monitoring system, which checks FOG concentrations and water quality data to ensure our services meet all legal compliance. The data also enables us to schedule and plan tanker frequency for minimum congestion and maximum efficiency.
